December 31, 2011

Looking back and moving forward.

Usually come the end of an year I tend to evaluate where I am and generally feel shit about it. If you recall my post last year I did a quick recap of my life status (money, job, love life, etc) and felt like I had made no progress. But what a ridiculously awful way to evaluate an year past. I don't want to do that today, because I don't want to go down that road. And the truth is, despite disappointments and hardships and all that stuff life tends to deal you anyway, I've done some pretty awesome things this year and it's those that I want to remember and rejoice on this day, the last of 2011.

We all have those "Things to do before you die" list and I can happily say I've ticked a few of those off in my list this year. Here's me counting the fulfilled dreams for a change.
Visit Paris. Check.

Visit the Shakespeare & Company bookshop. Check.

Watch a Shakespeare play at The Globe theater. Check.

Watch The Phantom of the Opera in London. Check.

Go to a Noah and the Whale gig. Check.

Work in the Penguin office (so what if it was just as an intern for two weeks). Check.

Go on a proper hardcore roller coaster. Hell yeah, check!

See/meet J.K. Rowling in the flesh. Check. Attend Hollywood red carpet event. Check. Two birds in one stone, yo!

See a real Banksy on the street. Check. In fact, I saw two. The second was one of his more well-known ones but didn't have my camera to photograph it.

So here's to 2012 and whatever life throws at you, may you always find the strength and will to get up and keep fighting. Dream. Discover. Dare. Have a fantastic new year everyone.

I was actually sad to see 2011 go because it was such an awesome year for all of us. We got the chance to explore, learn and grow with some great opportunities .... what more can you ask from 365 days? Here's wishing you that 2012 gives us the same. HUGS.
